A polite disagreement with the obvious.

Some call it lateral thinking. On less formal days, we might call ourselves anarchists with documentation: instinctively suspicious of inherited assumptions, unusually respectful of evidence, and rather fond of systems that can be opened, understood and owned.

Years of repetition do not make a movement correct. They may simply make everyone exceptionally efficient at moving the wrong way. So we rarely begin by asking how to go faster. We first ask whether the direction deserves to survive.

This is not rebellion for theatre. We study the operation, preserve what earns its place and redesign what does not. The result should not feel disruptive. It should feel precise—and, in hindsight, rather obvious.
